Description: Practice in the tax field is not accounting -- it is law. To excel as a tax practitioner, you need to understand the key concepts in the tax law as defined in court cases.  In this session, we will review some of the foundational court cases in the tax law, discuss their holdings, then outline their implications, and how you can leverage this knowledge into your everyday practice.

1. Understand the background in key tax cases and why they are still important                               
2. Know when and how to use these cases to your client’s advantage                                     
3. See when you can apply these cases to current transactions                                 
4. Comprehend how the holdings from these cases evolved over time
